ImageShack online media hosting is a great site if you love to blog about your photos and videos, if you want a place to store your photos online or if you love downloadable widgets such as iPhone apps.
Photo bloggers, welcome home. This photo hosting site is all about giving photo bloggers a place to post their photos so that they can be instantly blogged in seconds. All you have to do is click on a photo and click on “Post to Blog.” You are given a wide array of blog platforms to choose from to send your photo to. Everything from Blogger to Hi5 is an option, making it easy to send photos to multiple blogs.
Your photo sharing site also gets its own RSS feed with customizable address. This makes it easy for your fans to get the latest updates delivered to their email or feed organizer.
ImageShack is also a good, general media hosting site for those who aren’t looking for an online community to join. This site is more about posting your images so that the friends you already have can view them.
Before you can get the photo to the blog, you have to get the photo uploaded to ImageShack, right? No problem. Uploading to this image hosting service is easy and you can upload multiple images at once without bogging down your computer.
ImageShack features several multimedia options that many other photo sharing sites don’t.
The ability to post your images automatically to social media sites has already been mentioned, but another handy option is the ImageShack drive, which allows you to use Torrent to store images on their site like using a stick drive. This keeps a copy of your images safe in case your computer crashes or there is a fire at your home.
ImageShack also offers long list of downloads that you can use to enhance your photo sharing experience. You can download everything from a free desktop version to iPhone applications. One particularly handy application lets you upload photos from your iPhone to the site and lets you browse your ImageShack account on your iPhone.
ImageShack doesn’t offer print options or an online store. If this is an important feature to you, you may want to go with an image hosting site such as Photobucket, Picasa, SeeHere or Snapfish.
ImageShack isn’t the easiest image hosting site to use. It has an awkward layout that just doesn’t match up to more streamlined sites like Picasa or SeeHere. Even so, users with no computer skills can easily add glitter and text to images using the site’s Glittery Image Maker.
ImageShack has a wide range of ways you can get help on the site. The help and support section includes a chat room, forum, blog, FAQ and more. Not even some of the biggest photo sharing sites, such as Photobucket, have a help and support department that is so thorough.
Though ImageShack has several downsides, it is still a good website for photo bloggers and iPhone users. For the best online image hosting sites, refer to our reviews of Photobucket, Picasa and Piczo.
